Anticipated Harvest for August 4th

This week will be a lot of the same things from last week.

We are in the thick of summer for things that grow well in the heat and humidity.

So there will be lots of Zucchini, Patty Pan Squash, Cucumbers and Green Beans.

There are plenty of nice Carrots to pick. Take two or three bunches home this week. Super sweet!

We will bring in the Beets, despite the funny black marks on the outside.

We will have small quantities of Cabbage and Celery.

Lots of Basil for pesto, plenty of Parsley and a few other herbs.

Kohlrabi and Potatoes will be abundant this week again. Maybe we will pick a mix of red and white potatoes.

Cut Flowers will be coming in, and we will have some bouquet makers at the market stand this week too.

Last week we harvested one little box of Red Tomatoes. This week we should at least double that. Probably triple it.

Our goal is to have Salad Mix and Kale at every market. The hot weather sometime does not cooperate, but this week we should be good on Kale, while the Salad Mix is not worth picking because of the hail damage from last Saturday. Next week.

Likewise, there will be Onions and Garlic every week. This week, we'll do big Sweet Ailsa Craig Onions, Scallions, and French Red Garlic.

We might have... Swiss Chard, Bok Choy, Amaranth Greens, what else?

Sounds pretty good? Come on by LCS from 4 to 6 on Thursday.

Next week... The first of the sweet corn. I tried a piece raw in the field today and it was almost there.
