Farm Stay 3, Day 2

Today is the second day of farmstay, but it feels as if we’ve been here for two weeks. In just two days we have bonded together in making meals, playing games, and building a ginormous snow fort. We’ve supported each other when unpacking the bus, snowshoeing (most of us for the first time), and settling into the Land School. In just over 24 hours, it already feels like home, and the students on farmstay three have already created a strong community.

Because of the several feet of snow recently received at the Land School a couple day before we arrived, there are great opportunities for us to sled, build snow structures, and snow forts. On the first day, we decided to build a snow fort, as a project for the entire farmstay to work on. We’re making a large hollowed out room, connected to a long tunnel. We began construction on our first day at the Land School. Unfortunately, today the weather got up to 50 degrees fahrenheit, so we were unable to work on the fort, in case our construction would ruin it, but we are eager to get to work tomorrow! Farmstay has barely begun, but we've created a community already. We are all very excited for much to come.

Winter at the Land School

We planted more apple trees in our new orchard before the snow started to fly!

They came to harvest the corn on the rented fields with in the night, and later came back to roll the stalks into round bales that dotted the landscape.

First snow!

More snow!
