Welcome Katie Bovee!
The big news is that we have a new staff person here, Katie Bovee, and she has jumped right in to the work of the rural campus. On one of her first days on the job, we hosted the second annual E1 third years' overnight. As way to get to know the place, she's been involved in our winter maintenance of the Homestead and outdoor environments. She has also been helping to get the seed order ready for the community gardens and plant sale. It is exciting to have her fresh energy and ideas. Then last week we visited E1 classrooms with an eye to improving connections between the two campuses. Katie is an Environmental Educator and she comes with a host of skills and interests to enrich our team at the Land School. We are thrilled to have her here!
Land School Update
People have been asking us "How is the Land School?" Hmm... We are still here and would love visitors. There is more snow than in the city, but it is patchy; we actually went sledding with the 3rd years. There are a ton of birds at the bird blind. The farm animals are all well. We are excited for our friend, and part-time staff member, Anne Nichols, who is currently at the Westminster Dog Show with her dog Delsin. Delsin and Anne were recently featured in a story on WCCO, which included footage form the Land School. We just hosted the Barron Area Montessori School 3rd years for a very successful overnight at the Land School; many of you will remember our former rural campus staff member, Nadine Wetzel-Curtis, who is now the E1 guide in Barron.
