New Record Wednesday

What do you know?  I wake up to another April day with tons of snow on the ground.  I thought that April showers, (not snowstorms) brings May Flowers!  Well, I guess we will just have to wait!
Even though there are many piles of snow everywhere and no flowers, there are still high perks on the Farm Stay.  Today we had Science and we got to go outside.  We observed our trees buds, (we were all assigned trees to observe) and our nest box, (a bird nesting box elevated in the air that we also were assigned to watch).  There weren’t any birds, eggs or traces of nests in any of the 12 boxes.  After that, we all went to the Bird Blind.
This is a really cool time of year to go to the Bird Blind, and we have unusual circumstances this year.   We have many winter birds still here, and spring birds are beginning to come.  The most species of birds that have ever been seen at our Bird Blind in one sitting was 14.  Over the winter, we spotted 19 different species.  When we went to the Bird Blind today, we saw 16 different species!  We broke a record!
We then went back to the Homestead for the lunch that Katie made for us.  It was delicious.  We played kick the can after lunch, once we decided which rules to play by! After group play, we all worked on making the crafts we are going to sell at the festival this weekend.  They are all coming along great!  I can’t wait to see them all finished.  We had ‘make your own dinner’ tonight.  I made Fettuccine Alfredo with Emerson.  That pretty much sums up our day!  Lots of exciting stuff happened.
